## What it means in packaging

Mailer designs vary. Many use corrugated board and folded wall sections, but the name does not guarantee that a particular pack is suitable for shipping without an outer carton. Closure security and cushioning are separate decisions.

## A practical example

An apparel mailer can combine a hinged presentation lid with tissue, an insert and a shipping seal.

## What to check

Test packed fit and closure security through the intended handling conditions before relying on it as a shipper.
